My Butter Cauldrons are French butter dishes/crocks. You use them by packing butter in the lid section and storing them upside down in the base. Adding a bit of water to the base provides a nice airtight seal so that your butter stays fresher for longer while being stored on the counter.
A lot of my cauldron lids can be placed upside down on the base for those that prefer being able to set the lid down while getting butter. Whether or not a cauldron has this feature will be noted in the description.

*****This particular cauldron had some fit issues after firing. I was able to carefully sand the inside opening of the base so the top would still fit. I didn’t want to risk refiring the piece because of the finicky nature of the glaze used. It is barely noticeable when open and not at all noticeable when the top is in place. It is completely smooth and won’t pose any risks. I have provided a photo (the last one) that shows the sanded portion. I just wanted to be transparent about any “flaws” in my work.*****
